Armenian welterweight Gor Yeritsyan (20-2) suffered a disappointing loss to American Vernon Brown (14-2) on June 22 at Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California. The bout ended in a technical knockout in the seventh round.
Until that turning point, Yeritsyan was confidently controlling the fight and leading on points. However, in the seventh round, he was caught by a powerful combination from Brown, prompting the referee to stop the contest and award the American a TKO victory.
This was Yeritsyan's first defeat after two consecutive knockout wins. The Armenian boxer had been climbing the rankings steadily but faced serious resistance this time.
It was the second loss of Yeritsyan’s professional career, and now he will need to analyze his mistakes and come back stronger in future fights.
