The goalkeeper of Armenia’s national futsal team and Spanish club Palma, Luan Muller, scored a spectacular goal in the 22nd round of the Spanish Primera against Movistar Inter.
Muller intercepted the ball after an opponent’s shot, launched a counterattack himself, and finished it off with a lightning-fast combination. This was his second goal of the season, and the match ended in a 3-3 draw.
It should be noted that Brazilian-born Luan Muller has played over 40 matches for the Armenian national team but can no longer represent it due to new naturalization rules. Now, futsal follows the same regulations as regular football: a naturalized player must spend at least five years in the country’s domestic league to be eligible for the national team.
Muller played for the Armenian club Leo in the 2019/20 season, but under the new rules, this is not enough. The current first-choice goalkeeper of the Armenian national team is Albert Agadjanov, who helped the team qualify for EURO 2026, the country's first-ever major tournament.
Despite this, Luan’s impact on Armenian futsal has been immense. A goalkeeper of his caliber significantly raised the overall level of the team. In 2024, Luan Muller was named the world's best futsal goalkeeper.
