On August 14 in Abovyan, Noah ended their UEFA Europa League qualifying campaign, losing to Gibraltar’s Lincoln in a penalty shootout in the third qualifying round second leg. Regular and extra time ended in a draw, and the visitors were more accurate from the spot.
Lincoln will now face Portugal’s Braga in the Europa League play-off round, while Noah will continue in the Europa Conference League, where they will meet Slovenia’s Olimpija Ljubljana.
After the match, Noah’s head coach Sandro Perković noted that his team had several great chances but failed to convert them:
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t convert our 5–6 clear chances. They managed to keep their defense solid. In the penalty shootout, they were luckier. I want to thank all the fans who came to the stadium. I hope they will come again in the future.
It’s too early to talk about lessons — we need to analyze.
We spoke with the players, and Eteki agreed to take responsibility. I have no complaints.
All the bad is my fault, all the good is the players’ merit. It’s very hard for me, but moments like this are part of football. Today we can be sad, but tomorrow we must prepare for the match against Gandzasar.”
