Football club Syunik, which finished second in the First League in the 2024/25 season and earned the right to compete in the Armenian Premier League for the 2025/26 season, has officially declined promotion.
According to the club’s statement, despite a successful season (19 wins, 4 draws, and just one loss), the team is not ready to participate in the top division. The main reason is that the Kapan stadium does not yet meet Premier League standards, and the club’s policy is focused on developing football specifically in Syunik and hosting home matches exclusively in their native region.
Therefore, Syunik has decided to spend another season in the First League, expressing hope that fans will continue to support the team at their home stadium.
It should be recalled that Syunik took second place in the First League, behind only BKMA-2, which is not eligible for promotion to the Premier League.
Thus, at the moment, the number of teams for the upcoming Armenian Premier League season remains unknown.
