Finn Geragusian signs first professional contract with Sunderland

English club Sunderland have announced the signing of a first professional contract with 18-year-old striker Finn Geragusian.

Geragusian is a product of the club’s academy and has made notable progress in Sunderland’s system over recent seasons. Last season, the forward recorded 13 goals and 3 assists for the academy teams. A season earlier, he had 19 goal contributions to his name.

Finn Geragusian is a striker standing over 190 cm tall. In addition to playing as a centre-forward, he can also operate on the attacking flanks. The footballer previously represented Armenia’s youth national team, and in March 2026 he made his debut for the senior national team, coming on in a friendly match against Belarus.

After signing his first professional contract, Geragusian thanked the club and his close ones for their support.

“I’m really proud of myself. The coaches and all the staff have helped me, and a big shout-out to my family as well, who have supported and pushed me this season. I’ve had some great opportunities and experiences, and hopefully now I’ll be able to have many more this season,” Geragusian said.

Sunderland’s Head of Academy John Hewitson also praised the Armenian footballer’s progress.

“Finn has made massive progress over the last couple of seasons, and that is testament to his hard-working attitude. We are delighted that he will be continuing his progression at the club,” Hewitson said.

Signing a professional contract marks an important step in Geragusian’s career, as he will now continue his fight for a chance to establish himself at senior level within the English club’s system.

In the new season, Finn will mainly play for the U21 team in Premier League 2, but he will also be available for matches in the FA Cup and the Europa League.
