The Football Federation of Armenia has officially presented the coaching staff of the national team.
-
Yeghishe Melikyan – Head coach of the Armenian national team
-
Stepan Demirchyan – Goalkeeping coach
-
Aghvan Ayvazyan – Assistant coach
-
Roman Monaryov – Assistant coach
-
Javier Miñano – Fitness coach
It is noteworthy that all the specialists, except Miñano, had previously worked together at Yerevan’s Pyunik. Spanish coach Javier Miñano is well acquainted with Armenian football: he has been working with the national team for five years and has collaborated with three head coaches — Joaquín Caparrós, Aleksandr Petrakov and John van’t Schip.
It should be reminded that Yeghishe Melikyan was appointed head coach of the Armenian national team in August 2024, replacing Dutchman John van’t Schip. On September 6, the national team, under the guidance of the new coaching staff, will play its first 2026 World Cup qualifier against Portugal.
The coaching staff was also left by legendary former goalkeeper and ex-captain of the Armenian national team Roman Berezovsky, who had served as goalkeeping coach.
