Emma Poghosyan was close to a medal, but an injury stood in the way

On May 5, the World Weightlifting Championships for juniors (U20) and youth (U17) continued in Lima, the capital of Peru, with the competition in the women’s 81 kg category. Armenia was represented in the U20 group by 18-year-old Emma Poghosyan.
The Armenian athlete started strong, lifting 95 kg in her first snatch attempt. However, she felt pain in her back and decided to withdraw from her remaining snatch attempts. In the clean and jerk, she also successfully lifted 120 kg on her first try, but once again declined further attempts due to the injury.
Despite the setback, Poghosyan managed to secure an impressive fourth place in the total with 215 kg. Without the injury, she could have been a strong contender for a podium finish.
