Elina Avanesyan reaches the main draw of the WTA 250 tournament in Iași

Armenian tennis player Elina Avanesyan successfully came through qualifying at the WTA 250 clay-court tournament in Iași, Romania.
In the first round of qualifying, Avanesyan, ranked No. 224 in the world, defeated Romania’s Irina Fetecău (WTA No. 1207) 6-2, 6-2.
In the decisive match for a place in the main draw, the Armenian player recorded a convincing 6-2, 6-0 victory over Germany’s Emily Seibold (WTA No. 561).
Avanesyan therefore secured two straight-set victories and earned a place in the main draw of the WTA 250 tournament in Iași.
Alina Charaeva, ranked No. 118 in the WTA standings, will also compete at the tournament. It will be her first event representing Armenia.
In the opening round of the main draw, Charaeva will face Andorra’s Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva, who is ranked No. 114 in the world.
