Elida Kocharyan (60 kg) successfully kicked off her campaign at the 2025 Women's Boxing World Championship, currently taking place in Belgrade.
She stepped into the ring on the very first day of the tournament, March 9, becoming the first representative of the Armenian national team to begin her competition. The two-time European U-23 champion is aiming for her first senior title and started confidently with a victory. Complete domination in the Round of 32 secured her a spot in the next round. The judges unanimously awarded Elida the win, recognizing her superiority in all three rounds.
In the Round of 32, Kocharyan confidently defeated Romanian Claudia Nechita with a score of 5:0.
In the Round of 16, she will face the favorite in the 60 kg category and the tournament host, Serbian athlete Natalija Šadrina.
It is worth noting that Armenia's national team is represented by four athletes at the 2025 World Championship. In the coming days, Anush Grigoryan (50 kg), Ekaterina Sycheva (54 kg), and Sona Arutyunyan (63 kg) will also enter the competition.
