EKF European Karate Championships 2025 in Yerevan: Everything You Need to Know and How to Watch Online

This is the first time such a large-scale championship is hosted at the Karen Demirchyan complex. On its arena floor of over 10 000 m² there will be tatami mats for kumite and tatami for kata, as well as dedicated zones for athletes with disabilities (Para‑Karate).

According to European Karate Federation President Antonio Espinós and Armenian Federation head Vazgen Harutyunyan, preparation for the tournament has been underway for more than a year, and the organizational work is virtually complete. They expressed gratitude to the Armenian Ministry of Sport for its comprehensive support and highlighted the high level of involvement from local authorities and the national federation in staging this anniversary event.

The tournament will take place at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex in Yerevan.

For the first time, the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex is hosting such a large‑scale championship. On its arena floor of over 10,000 m², tatami mats for kumite and kata will be installed, as well as dedicated zones for athletes with disabilities (Para‑Karate).

According to European Karate Federation President Antonio Espinós and Armenian Federation head Vazgen Harutyunyan, preparations for the tournament have been underway for more than a year, and the organizational work is now nearly complete. Mr. Espinós and Mr. Harutyunyan expressed their gratitude to the Armenian Ministry of Sport for its comprehensive support and highly praised the active involvement of local authorities and the national federation in staging this anniversary event.

Schedule of the EKF European Karate Championships 2025

  • Wednesday, May 7

    • Individual Kata (Women at 09:30; Men at 11:00)

    • Kumite preliminaries and repechage in all weight categories from 12:30 until evening

  • Thursday, May 8

    • Team Kata from 09:30

    • Individual Kumite preliminaries; first men’s team matches from 16:30

    • Opening Ceremony at 19:00

  • Friday, May 9

    • Team Kumite semifinals and repechage

    • Para‑Karate competitions (all categories, including bronze-medal bouts)

  • Saturday, May 10

    • Morning: all bronze-medal bouts in individual Kumite and Kata

    • From 11:30: finals and medal ceremonies

    • Afternoon: Para‑Karate (intellectual impairment)

    • Evening: another series of bronze-medal bouts and Kumite finals

  • Sunday, May 11

    • Morning: team bronze-medal matches; Kata finals

    • Afternoon: Para‑Karate (visually impaired and wheelchair athletes)

    • From 14:15: team Kumite and Closing Ceremony

How to Watch Online

The entire tournament will be available via live stream on the World Karate Federation’s YouTube channel. In some countries there are official TV broadcasters (watching on certain channels), but in Armenia and many other countries it’s free to watch on YouTube.
