Football 💬 Comment

Armenia national football team head coach Yeghishe Melikyan has announced his squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Kazakhstan and Moldova. The Armenian team will begin its training camp on June 1 before playing two matches as part of preparations for future official competitions.

The 27-man squad includes players from both the Armenian Premier League and clubs abroad. Particular attention is drawn to several newcomers who have received their first call-up to the national team.

Goalkeeper Alexander Mishiev of Urartu, BKMA defender Argishti Petrosyan, Noah midfielder Aram Hamoyan, and Podbrezová forward David Hakobyan have all earned their first-ever invitations to Armenia’s senior national team.

Defender Arman Ghazaryan also returns to the squad after receiving his first call-up in four years.

The roster features key national team leaders, including midfielder Eduard Spertsyan and defender Nair Tiknizyan, who recently joined Red Star Belgrade. Other foreign-based players include Ognjen Čančarević, Edgar Sevikyan, Tigran Avanesyan, Grant-Leon Ranos, and several other Armenian internationals playing abroad.

Meanwhile, Ugochukwu Iwu, Vahan Bichakhchyan, Stepa Mkrtchyan, and Finn Geraghty will miss the matches due to injuries.

Armenia will play its first June friendly against Kazakhstan on June 6 at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan. Three days later, on June 9, Melikyan’s side will face Moldova.

The upcoming training camp will provide the coaching staff with an opportunity to assess the newcomers in an international environment and test new personnel options ahead of future official competitions.
