European champion and World Championship silver medalist Edmond Khudoyan made a bright statement on the professional boxing scene. In his first professional bout, the 29-year-old Russian boxer of Armenian descent secured a convincing victory over Filipino fighter Jeplex Kirante (6–0) and immediately captured the WBA Asia minimumweight title.
The fight took place during the IBA.PRO 14 boxing event in Moscow at the Luzhniki arena. Scheduled for 10 rounds, the bout went the full distance. The judges awarded Khudoyan a unanimous decision victory — 100–90, 100–90, 99–91.
Although the contest was entertaining and fast-paced, the Russian boxer’s advantage was evident throughout the fight. Khudoyan fully controlled the action, working with greater accuracy, variety, and confidence, taking round after round.
For Khudoyan, this marked a long-awaited transition to the professional ranks following a lengthy and successful amateur career, where he became European champion and World Championship runner-up. His debut proved more than impressive — from his very first fight, he rose to the top of the WBA regional rankings.
