Armenian national team forward Edgar Sevikyan spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Lokomotiv Moscow. In the summer, he will return to Hungarian side Ferencváros, with whom he has a contract until the summer of 2028.
Ferencváros sporting director Tamás Hajnal, speaking on the Ferencvárosi Torna Club podcast, reviewed the championship season and stated that the club expects the return of two loaned players — Edgar Sevikyan and Péter Baráth. The other loaned players are likely to leave the team.
"We believe in Edgar Sevikyan. He has already shown what he is capable of in our team. Last summer, he felt he needed a new challenge and wanted a change of environment. But he will return and stay with us," said Tamás Hajnal.
Since January 2025, Ferencváros has had a new head coach — former Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane. He is not yet familiar with Sevikyan, so the Armenian player will have the opportunity to earn the trust of the new coach during the off-season. A strong performance for the Armenian national team in the upcoming matches against Kosovo (June 6) and Montenegro (June 9) could help in that regard.
Robbie Keane uses a 3-5-2 formation at Ferencváros, which is similar to the system used at Pari NN, where Sevikyan had a successful spell.
The 23-year-old Armenian winger joined Ferencváros in January 2024 from Russian club Pari NN. During half a season with the Hungarian club, he played 17 matches, scored 2 goals, and provided 1 assist. He then went on loan to his home club Lokomotiv, where he made 4 assists in 20 appearances.
