Cypriot club Omonia 29th May has officially announced the signing of Armenian forward Edgar Movsesyan. The 26-year-old footballer (born September 9, 1998) plays as a winger.
"We are happy to welcome Edgar to the big Omonia family and wish him great success with the shamrock on his chest," the club said in a statement.
Speaking with journalist Suren Meliksetyan (source: MS_FootballPlus), Movsesyan revealed that he had several offers from Armenian clubs but decided to try himself in a new league:
"Macedonian side Rabotnichki also wanted to sign me. Akritas Chlorakas, who have been promoted to the Cypriot First Division, also showed interest in me, but in the end I chose Omonia M29 as the club’s goal is to return to the top division," he said.
The player signed a 1+1 deal. If the team achieves promotion to the top division of Cyprus, the contract will be automatically extended for another season on improved terms.
Last season, Edgar played for Urartu, where he scored 5 goals and made 3 assists. He previously also performed successfully for Noah and Van.
Movsesyan has 8 appearances for Armenia’s U21 national team and more than 20 games for the U19 team.
