Krasnodar forward John Córdoba has commented on rumors about the possible departure of Armenia national team midfielder Eduard Spertsyan from the club.
In an interview with Sport-Express, the Colombian striker said he had not discussed Spertsyan’s future with him and believes the final decision should be made by the player himself.
“We haven’t discussed this issue with him. Whether to leave or stay is only his decision, his personal choice. Advice can certainly be given, but he is capable of making the right decision himself. He knows his abilities well and understands his potential,” Córdoba said.
The forward also admitted that Spertsyan’s possible departure would be a serious loss for Krasnodar, as the Armenian midfielder is one of the team’s leaders.
“It will certainly be more difficult for us because he is a leader of our team. But we are a united team. Even if I leave, many things will also change. In any case, the team will rebuild and adapt to the new situation,” Córdoba added.
Earlier, after the Fonbet Russian Cup Super Final against Spartak, Eduard Spertsyan said that the match could have been his last in a Krasnodar shirt. Since then, speculation about a possible transfer for the Armenia captain has intensified.
In the 2025/26 season, Spertsyan made 42 appearances for Krasnodar in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 18 assists. The 25-year-old midfielder’s current contract with the club runs until the summer of 2029.
