Armenian wrestler Janes Nazaryan (65 kg) has reached the final of the U17 World Championships taking place in Athens. In the semifinals, he secured a confident 3:1 victory over Ukraine’s Yehor Tarasenko.
Tomorrow, Nazaryan will fight for the gold against Georgia’s Erekle Tavberidze — a repeat of the U17 European Championship final, where the Georgian wrestler emerged victorious.
On his way to the final, Nazaryan showed excellent form: in the quarterfinals, he crushed Europe’s bronze medalist Kilian Eddou of France (6:0), previously defeating Azerbaijan’s Huseyn Isgandarov (9:1) and the USA’s Arseniy Kikinov (4:1).
The finals will take place on July 29. So far, Nazaryan is the only Armenian wrestler to have reached the final, but tomorrow five more members of Team Armenia, including U17 European champion Marat Achemyan, will step onto the mat.
