Two Finals for Armenia and the Results of Day One at the U17 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships

Today, May 11, the 2026 U17 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships kicked off in Samokov, Bulgaria. On the first competition day, the finalists were determined in five weight categories: 48 kg, 55 kg, 65 kg, 80 kg and 110 kg.
It was a successful day for the Armenian national team. Zaven Mezhlumyan reached the final in the 65 kg weight category, while Vahe Oveyan advanced to the final at 80 kg. Two more Armenian wrestlers — Ararat Avetisyan and Gegham Yeghiazaryan — will continue their campaigns in bronze-medal bouts.
After the first day, Russia has the most finalists with four. Armenia and Azerbaijan each have two representatives in the finals, while Hungary and Poland have one finalist each.
