Two Armenian wrestlers reach finals at U17 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship

On June 9, the 2025 U17 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship kicked off in Skopje, North Macedonia. Team Armenia started strong — two athletes reached the finals, and three more remain in medal contention.
In the 48 kg category, Martin Mandjikian won a tense semifinal against Azerbaijan’s Qurban Madjnunov 6:6, securing victory due to scoring the last point. He will face Bulgaria’s Stanislav Ivanov in the final.
In the 65 kg category, Janes Nazaryan confidently defeated Sweden’s Alvin Tulinder 10:4 and will meet Georgia’s Erekle Tavberidze in the final.
In the 55 kg class, Vazgen Mnatsakanyan lost a close semifinal 5:6 to Georgia’s Giorgi Chachua and will compete for bronze.
Vage Oveyan (80 kg) and Gor Mkhitaryan (110 kg) will also fight for bronze in repechage bouts.
The competition continues; finals and bronze matches will be held tomorrow, June 10, along with matches in five remaining weight classes.
