The main event of RAF 10 in St. Louis ended in scandal and a mass brawl. In the final bout of the evening, Khamzat Chimaev faced Dillon Danis, but the match was stopped after a serious rule violation.
During the bout, Danis attempted to apply a chokehold on Chimaev. In freestyle wrestling, this is considered a rule violation, as choking an opponent is prohibited in this format.
Chimaev reacted sharply to his opponent’s actions and kicked Danis. After that, the situation quickly spiraled out of control: a mass scuffle broke out on the mat involving members of both teams.
At the moment the bout was stopped, Chimaev was leading 2-0. As a result, Khamzat was declared the winner, while Danis’ actions were ruled a violation of the rules.
For Chimaev, this bout marked his debut in the Real American Freestyle league. However, instead of a full wrestling match, his first RAF appearance will be remembered mainly for its scandalous ending and the brawl that followed the illegal move.
Armenian athletes Arman Tsarukyan and Arsen Harutyunyan also competed at the same event, and both earned early victories.
