Montenegro beat Cyprus to draw level with Armenia on points ahead of Yerevan clash

Montenegro, Armenia’s next opponent in the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League, opened their campaign with a 2–1 comeback win at home to Cyprus. Both teams have three points after the first round, but Armenia lead Group C2 on goal difference.

Montenegro created several chances in the first half but could not break the deadlock. After the interval, Cyprus took the lead through national team debutant Marcus Edwards in the 55th minute.

Montenegro equalised in the 66th minute when Nikola Krstović converted a penalty awarded for a foul inside the box. Krstović then helped set up the winner in the 86th minute, with Milutin Osmajić finishing from his pass.

Armenia had earlier beaten Latvia 2–0. Yeghishe Melikyan’s side will face Mirko Vučinić’s Montenegro in Yerevan on September 28. Armenia’s goal difference after the opening round is 2–0, compared with Montenegro’s 2–1.
