2026 IWF World Youth Championships U17: Results of Day Two

The second competition day of the 2026 IWF World Youth Championships U17 took place on July 7 in Cali, Colombia.
On the second day of the tournament, medals were awarded in two weight categories: the boys’ 60 kg and the girls’ 53 kg divisions. Victor Mendez of Mexico and Ogulshat Amanova of Turkmenistan won the overall titles.
One of the main highlights of the day was Victor Mendez’s performance. The Mexican weightlifter claimed gold in the boys’ 60 kg category thanks to a successful final attempt in the clean and jerk. He finished with a total of 250 kg, edging his closest rivals by just one kilogram.
In the girls’ 53 kg category, Ogulshat Amanova secured a confident victory. The representative of Turkmenistan won the snatch, clean and jerk and total, finishing the competition with 191 kg. Another athlete from Turkmenistan, Shabnam Kerimbayeva, claimed bronze in the total.
It was also a successful day for the Philippines: Jody Peralta won silver in the girls’ 53 kg total, while Kribi Kent Alasas took silver in the snatch in the boys’ 60 kg category.
