2025 European Weightlifting Championship: Day Three Results

2025 European Weightlifting Championship: Day Three Results
Weightlifting

On April 15, the third day of the 2025 European Weightlifting Championship took place in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. Medals were contested in two weight categories — men's 67 kg and women's 59 kg.

The third day brought viewers thrilling sports dramas and inspiring comebacks. Romania’s Andrea Cotruta claimed gold in the women’s 59 kg category after a tense battle, becoming the second Romanian champion of this tournament. In the men's division, Turkey's Kaan Kahraman won his first senior-level gold, securing a third gold medal overall for the Turkish team.

However, the highlight of the day was the return of Latvian weightlifter Rebeka Ibrahima (formerly Rebeka Koha) to the international stage. More than five years after her last competition — and following major life changes such as marriage, a move to Qatar, and the birth of two children — she returned to the platform and took bronze, missing gold by only two kilograms.

There were no Armenian athletes competing on this day, but Gor Sahakyan is scheduled to perform on April 16 in the men’s 73 kg category.
