On April 13, the 2025 European Weightlifting Championship kicked off in Chișinău, the capital of Moldova. On the first day of the tournament, medals were contested in two women’s weight categories — up to 45 kg and up to 49 kg.
It’s worth noting that no Armenian athletes participated on the opening day.
The new European champions are Cansu Bektas of Turkey, who claimed her third continental gold, and Mihaela Cambei of Romania, who became a two-time European champion.
