Ismail Musukaev, the 2023 world champion competing for Hungary, will not take part in the 2025 Wrestling World Championships. The 32-year-old athlete announced on his social media that he sustained an injury during one of his recent training sessions.
Musukaev’s absence may affect the course of the tournament. For the Armenian national team, this is likely a drawback: the wrestler could have eliminated one of the favorites, while Arman Andreasyan has traditionally performed well against the Hungarian opponent. Notably, at the 2024 European Championships, Andreasyan defeated Musukaev in the semifinals and went on to win gold.
The 2025 Wrestling World Championships will kick off on September 13 in Zagreb, Croatia.
