London’s Chelsea delivered one of the biggest shocks of the season by confidently beating French giants PSG 3–0 in the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The Conference League winners left no chance for the Parisians’ star-studded lineup, claiming the prestigious trophy for the second time in their history.
The hero of the night was Cole Palmer, who netted twice in the first half, scoring in the 22nd and 30th minutes. He later provided an assist for new signing João Pedro, who found the net in the 43rd minute. The Brazilian forward, who recently joined Chelsea from Brighton, has quickly settled in, scoring three goals in his last two matches of the tournament.
PSG looked disorganized and failed to impose their usual possession-based style. Adding to their woes, João Neves was shown a red card for unsportsmanlike behavior after pulling Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella’s hair.
Chelsea’s new head coach Enzo Maresca executed his tactical plan to perfection. The Blues showcased high intensity, solid defending, and clinical finishing. This victory capped off a season of rapid progress for the London club.
Moreover, Chelsea made history by becoming the first club to win all five major international club competitions: the Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup.
For PSG, the defeat was a major blow. Despite boasting a star-studded squad and a Champions League triumph, Luis Enrique’s side fell short of conquering the world stage.
