According to insider Suren Meliksetyan, the new head coach of the Armenian national team will be 61-year-old Dutch specialist Johannes Nicolaas van ’t Schip.
John van ’t Schip managed Ajax in the 2023/24 season and previously worked with the Greek national team and the Dutch club Zwolle.
In the past, van ’t Schip was a well-known footballer, playing more than 40 matches for the Netherlands national team and representing Ajax and Genoa at the club level.
The Armenian national team has been searching for a new head coach since November 2024, following the dismissal of Alexander Petrakov. One match was played under the guidance of Suren Chakharyan. However, the Football Federation has promised to appoint a new coach before the Nations League matches against Georgia, scheduled for March 20 and 23.
