Borussia Mönchengladbach Lost to Hannover in 2026 Season Opener

In the first friendly match of 2026, Borussia Mönchengladbach was defeated by Hannover with a score of 0:3.
Armenian national team forward Grant-Leon Ranos was included in the squad but did not take the field. Gladbach used two different lineups, with a total of 24 players participating — all except Ranos. Among the players on the pitch were the returning loanee forward Tomasz Chvancara and new defender Toko Katai.

First Half:
The first defensive line featured Toko Katai, Nico Elvedi, and Kevin Diks in front of goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas. On the flanks were Joe Scally (right) and Lukas Ulrich (left). The midfield consisted of Yannick Engelhardt, Kevin Stöger, Florian Neuhaus, and Tomasz Chvancara. Central forward was Haris Tabakovic.
Second Half:
At halftime, coach Eugen Polanski completely refreshed the squad. Jonas Omlin came in as goalkeeper. The defensive trio included Philipp Sander, Marvin Friedrich, and Fabio Chiarodia. Flank players were Jens Castrop (right) and Luca Netz (left), while the midfield had Rocco Reitz, Giovanni Reyna, Wael Mohia, and Frank Onorat. In attack, Syuto Machino started. In the 74th minute, Fritz Flek and Charles Herrmann came on, replacing Frank Onorat and Fabio Chiarodia.
