Milan’s Inter defeated Bayern Munich 2-1 in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal. Lautaro Martínez and Davide Frattesi scored for the Italian side, while Thomas Müller netted the only goal for the visitors.
The first half was evenly contested. Inter capitalized on open space and opened the scoring with a brilliant individual move: a stylish backheel pass from Marcus Thuram and a first-time finish from Lautaro Martínez completed the sequence.
In the second half, Bayern took control and completely dominated possession, but Inter defended confidently. In the 85th minute, Thomas Müller came off the bench to equalize to the delight of the traveling fans. However, Bayern’s joy was short-lived — just three minutes later, Davide Frattesi, who had replaced Henrikh Mkhitaryan, put Inter back in front after an assist from Carlos Augusto.

Italian media reviews on Mkhitaryan’s performance:
Eurosport (7): Contributes to both attack and defense with intelligence and commitment. Always at the heart of the action — invaluable.
Passione Inter (6.5): Effective between the lines in possession and equally important in defense. One of the oldest players on the pitch, yet runs like a youngster.
Calciomercato (6.5): Held his own in a tough battle against Olise, Goretzka, and Laimer — that alone is a major achievement.
Sport.virgilio (6.5): One of Inzaghi’s most loyal disciples — the Armenian always knows what to do, when, and how.
Leggo (7): From the “I’m 36 and still got it” category. Runs like a rookie, tackles, recovers balls, organizes and launches attacks — all with quality and experience. A veteran… clone.
In another match of the day, Arsenal thrashed Real Madrid 3-0 in London. Declan Rice scored two stunning goals from free kicks, with Mikel Merino adding the third.
