A shocking incident occurred at the European Cadet Boxing Championship (age group 13–14) held in Zlatibor, Serbia. The coach of an Azerbaijani boxer attacked the referee, striking him several times from behind, then grabbing him by the throat and attempting to strangle him.
For this assault, the European Boxing Confederation immediately disqualified both the athlete and his coach. The organization is also considering additional sanctions against the coach, whose actions cast a shadow over the entire tournament and violated the principles of fair play.

It is noted that the aggression may have been triggered by the referee’s controversial decisions in a bout involving a Serbian boxer. The local athlete was taking numerous punches, but the referee did not intervene and eventually counted a knockdown against the Azerbaijani boxer. However, such circumstances cannot justify attacking a tournament official.
We remind you that the European U15 Boxing Championship concluded in Serbia on July 27. The Armenian national team finished third in the team standings, winning 11 medals.
