Ashik Andreyan to fight for bronze at the 2025 European Judo Championships

Armenian judoka Ashik Andreyan (60 kg) is performing strongly at the 2025 European Championships in Podgorica. The 21-year-old athlete scored three confident victories over high-ranking opponents and advanced to the bronze medal match.
In the Round of 32, Andreyan defeated Israeli judoka Yhonatan Veksler, then delivered an impressive ippon victory against strong Belgian Jorre Verstraeten. In the quarterfinals, he lost to reigning world champion Giorgi Sardalashvili and continued his path through the repechage.
In the repechage round, Andreyan convincingly beat the highly decorated Dutch judoka Emil Jaring, earning a spot in the bronze medal match.
His opponent in the battle for bronze will be French judoka Luka Mkheidze.
