Armenian gymnast Artur Davtyan has confidently advanced to the final of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, held in Cottbus, Germany. The Olympic silver medalist secured first place in the vault qualification round, scoring 14.850 points. He outperformed his closest competitor, Ukrainian gymnast Nazar Chepurnyi—who is also set to compete in the upcoming Paris Olympics—by 0.450 points (14.400).
Davtyan’s success was part of an outstanding performance by the Armenian team at this stage of the World Cup. Five Armenian athletes will compete in the tournament finals, with three of them achieving the best results in their respective disciplines during the qualification round.
The finals will take place on February 22 and 23. On February 22, Hamlet Manukyan and Mamikon Khachatryan will compete for medals in the pommel horse event, while Artur Avetisyan and Vaagn Davtyan will perform on the rings. The vault final, where Artur Davtyan will vie for a medal, is scheduled for February 23.
