Arsen Balayan wins the Russian U23 Freestyle Wrestling Championship

The 2026 Russian U23 Freestyle Wrestling Championship concluded on May 3 in Grozny.

Armenian wrestler Arsen Balayan, representing the Kaliningrad Region, won the tournament in the 86 kg weight category. In the final bout, he defeated Dagestan’s Abdulkhamid Nurmagomedov.

Another Armenian wrestler, Robert Muradyan from Stavropol Krai, claimed a bronze medal in the 92 kg weight category.

At the tournament, representatives of the Chechen Republic and Dagestan each won three gold medals. Yakutia, North Ossetia, the Kaliningrad Region, and Moscow each won one gold medal.
