Former Dutch national team footballer Aron Winter will become the assistant coach of Armenia’s head coach John van’t Schip. This appointment adds experience and authority to the national team’s coaching staff.
The 57-year-old Winter was born in Suriname and had an outstanding playing career, representing clubs such as Ajax, Inter, and Lazio. He played 84 matches for the Netherlands national team, scoring 6 goals. Winter was part of the squad that won the 1988 European Championship.
After retiring as a player, he worked within Ajax’s system and also coached the Suriname national team. In addition, Winter has already collaborated with John van’t Schip in the coaching staff of the Greece national team, which could have a positive impact on their work with the Armenian squad.
It should be recalled that John van’t Schip was recently appointed as the new head coach of the Armenian national team. He will assume his duties on March 1, 2025, and will work in tandem with Aron Winter.
