Armenian athlete Nikita Fedetov ended his performance at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, failing to reach the top 14 participants continuing in the high diving competition. The reason was a mistake during his fourth dive from a 27-meter platform, which resulted in an injury.
After the third attempt, the 30-year-old Fedetov was in 10th place and had good chances to qualify for the next round. However, in the decisive dive, he failed to complete the rotation and entered the water chest-first. Immediately after hitting the water, divers rushed to assist him and provided first aid. Although Nikita signaled that he was fine, he could only leave the pool on a stretcher.
Fedetov, a medalist of the High Diving World Series, was competing for the Armenian national team for the first time this season after changing his sporting citizenship. Unfortunately, the unsuccessful final dive deprived him of the chance to continue in the tournament.
