On August 30, 2025, the 30th anniversary international memorial tournament in honor of Waldemar Malak, the bronze medalist of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, was held in Gdańsk, Poland. The competitions took place at the MKS Atleta Arena, bringing together strong weightlifters from Armenia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland.
The Armenian athletes delivered outstanding performances.
-
David Ohanyan took first place, lifting a total of 365 kg in the biathlon.
-
Rafik Harutyunyan claimed second place with 352 kg.

The third place went to Latvian Ritvars Suharevs, with 326 kg.
Both Armenian athletes outperformed their rivals in the unified ranking table, where winners were determined by the Sinclair coefficient — the ratio of lifted weight to the athlete’s body mass.
A total of 13 athletes from different weight categories took part in the competition. The victory earned David Ohanyan the main prize of €3000, while Rafik Harutyunyan received €2000 for second place.
