Armenian shooters top the medal table at the World Championships in Tallinn

The Armenian national shooting team finished first in the overall team medal standings at the ISSF World Championship in the running target discipline. The ISSF World Championship Moving Target was held in Tallinn, Estonia, from July 20 to 26, 2026.

The Armenian team won nine medals: five gold, one silver and three bronze. By securing the highest number of victories, Armenia finished ahead of Finland, Sweden and Kazakhstan in the final standings.

The World Championship in Tallinn was a historic event for Armenian shooting, as the country’s representatives won world championship titles in the running target discipline for the first time.

Armenia’s nine medals at the World Championship

Hayk Minasyan and Gor Khachatryan were the leading performers in the senior competition.

Hayk Minasyan won the individual gold medal in the 10-metre running target mixed-run event. The Armenian athlete scored 384 points. Minasyan also claimed bronze in the normal-run event with a score of 571 points.

Gor Khachatryan became the individual world champion in the 10-metre normal-run event. He scored 583 points.

The Armenian team also performed successfully in the team competitions. Hayk Minasyan, Gor Khachatryan and Hovhannes Margaryan won gold in the 10-metre normal-run event. The Armenian trio recorded a total score of 1,719 points.

In the 10-metre mixed-run event, Minasyan, Khachatryan and Margaryan won silver with a team score of 1,123 points.

Armenian shooters claimed another two bronze medals in the 50-metre team competitions. The team scored 1,732 points in the normal-run event and 1,144 points in the mixed-run event.

Aida Azatyan becomes a two-time world champion

Aida Azatyan was one of the most successful competitors at the World Championship in Tallinn.

The Armenian athlete won two gold medals in the youth category. Azatyan became world champion in the 10-metre mixed-run event after scoring 379 points.

She also finished first in the 10-metre normal-run event with a score of 561 points. As a result, Aida Azatyan completed the tournament as a two-time world champion.

Armenia finished first in the medal standings thanks to its five gold medals.

Although Finland won more medals overall, Armenia topped the medal table by winning the highest number of gold medals.

Historic success for Armenian shooters

Winning the medal table at the World Championship in Tallinn became one of the greatest achievements in the history of the Armenian national shooting team.

Armenian athletes not only won world championship titles in the running target discipline for the first time, but also produced strong results in both the individual and team events.

Five gold, one silver and three bronze medals allowed Armenia to finish the ISSF World Championship Moving Target 2026 in first place, ahead of the leading shooting nations of Finland, Sweden and Kazakhstan.
