Armenian Sambo Athletes Win 9 Medals in Krasnodar

At the international Sambo Grand Prix tournament held in Krasnodar, Armenian athletes once again demonstrated their high level of preparation by winning several medals in both sport and combat sambo.

In the sport sambo competition, the Armenian delegation achieved remarkable results. Karen Sargsyan won the gold medal in the 58 kg weight category. Karlen Makhinyan took silver in the 71 kg category, while his compatriot Davit Abrahamyan earned bronze in the same division. In the 79 kg weight class, Alex Stepanyan secured silver, and in the super heavyweight category (over 98 kg), Arman Manukyan won bronze.

Armenian athletes also excelled in combat sambo, claiming two silver and two bronze medals:

• Gevorg Goginyan (58 kg) — bronze

• Mayis Nersisyan (64 kg) — silver

• Arsen Avetisyan (71 kg) — bronze

• Arman Avanesyan (98 kg) — silver

The Armenian delegation was accompanied by coach Vovik Khojoyan and team leader Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.
