Armenian athletes Yervand Mkrtchyan and Gor Hovakimyan, under the guidance of coach Garnik Hovakimyan, participated in the 4th International Athletics Tournament Imam Reza Cup, held on April 26–28 in the Iranian city of Mashhad.
Yervand Mkrtchyan won the 1500 meters race with a time of 3:48.17, setting a new tournament record. Additionally, he finished second in the 5000 meters race with a result of 14:40.12.
Gor Hovakimyan claimed two silver medals: one in the triple jump (15.72 m) and one in the long jump (7.41 m), confirming his high level in both events.
Athletes from nine countries took part in the tournament, including Iran, Armenia, Turkey, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Oman, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.
