On October 10 in Førde, Norway, on the penultimate day of the 2025 World Weightlifting Championships, medals will be awarded in the men’s 110 kg weight category.

The main intrigue of the tournament is the battle between four favorites — two Olympic champions from Uzbekistan and two leaders of the Armenian national team.

  • Ruslan Nurudinov (33, Uzbekistan) – Olympic champion (Rio 2016), 3-time world champion.

  • Akbar Djuraev (25, Uzbekistan) – Olympic champion (Tokyo 2020), 2-time world champion.

  • Simon Martirosyan (28, Armenia) – two-time Olympic silver medalist, 2-time world champion.

  • Garik Karapetyan (22, Armenia) – two-time European champion, the youngest star of the category.

Four athletes will enter the stage, all aiming for gold. Based on the declared totals, Nurudinov and Djuraev lead with 421 kg each, while Martirosyan and Karapetyan are right behind with 420 kg each. This promises to be a true duel of titans.

Recent results confirm their form. Djuraev won the Asian Championship with 406 kg, Martirosyan matched that at the European Championship, while Karapetyan outperformed both with 411 kg to claim the European title. Nurudinov skipped continental events this year but last year won the World Championship with 424 kg.

Declared weights:
Dadashbayli Dadash (Azerbaijan) – 405 kg
Bacha Aymen (Tunisia) – 411 kg
Djuraev Akbar (Uzbekistan) – 421 kg
Karapetyan Garik (Armenia) – 420 kg
Ruiz i Velasco Marcos (Spain) – 406 kg
Nurudinov Ruslan (Uzbekistan) – 421 kg
Martirosyan Simon (Armenia) – 420 kg
Nasiri Alireza (Iran) – 415 kg
Hristov Hristo (Bulgaria) – 405 kg
Lauret Rodriguez Luis Manuel (Romania) – 405 kg

The final promises to be one of the most spectacular battles of the entire World Championship, with four superstars capable of rewriting weightlifting history.

Group A competitions in the men’s 110 kg category will begin at 21:30 Yerevan time.

The live broadcast will be available on the Sportaran Telegram channel.
