Armenian Mari Khachatryan Wins Youth Muay Thai World Championship

Armenian athlete Mari Khachatryan claimed a gold medal at the IFMA Youth World Championship 2025, held in September in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

In the 48 kg weight category, the 15-year-old Khachatryan secured a confident victory in the final against Ukrainian Anastasiia Melnytska, who competed for the Refugee Team. On her way to the decisive bout, Mari defeated opponents from Sri Lanka, the USA, Canada, and Ukraine, achieving a flawless result — 4 wins in 4 fights.

In total, the Armenian national team earned three medals at the championship: Khachatryan’s gold and two bronze. The bronze medalists were Andrey Karaev (U13, 40 kg) and Sergey Israelyan (U17, 91 kg).
