The host country for the 2026 Ice Hockey World Championship in Division IV remains undecided — a final decision will be made at an additional IIHF Congress in September. This was announced by the Secretary General of the Armenian Ice Hockey Federation, Aram Sargsyan, who is currently attending the annual IIHF Congress in Stockholm.
According to Sargsyan, none of the participating countries have expressed interest in hosting the tournament so far, prompting the IIHF to postpone the selection of the host nation.
"IIHF generally does not allow the same country to host the championship in the same division two years in a row. Therefore, Armenia’s chances of hosting the tournament again are quite low," he explained. "However, if none of the potential participants apply, we may have the opportunity to host it again."
It is worth recalling that in April 2024, Armenia hosted a world-level hockey tournament, organizing the Division IV championship in Yerevan.
Sargsyan also added that no new applications for IIHF membership were submitted during the current Congress.
