Armenia Lose to Uzbekistan in Round 10 of the Chess Olympiad

Armenia’s open team suffered its first defeat at the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand. In the tenth round, Armenia lost 0.5–3.5 to the host nation, Uzbekistan.

Shant Sargsyan earned Armenia’s only half-point with a draw against Nodirbek Yakubboev. Hayk Martirosyan, Robert Hovhannisyan and Gabriel Sargissian lost their games.

Armenia fielded the same lineup that defeated Azerbaijan in the previous round. Manuel Petrosyan remained on the bench.

The defeat leaves Armenia on 15 match points, while Uzbekistan lead the standings with 18 points. The final, 11th round of the Olympiad is still to come.
