Armenia Claims Second Victory at the European U19 Boxing Championships

Armenian boxer Suren Katvalyan earned an early victory at the 2026 European U19 Boxing Championships, currently taking place in Loznica, Serbia.
On the second day of competition, Armenia’s representative in the 65 kg weight category faced Latvia’s Romans Iljins and stopped the bout early, winning by technical knockout in the second round.
Results of the Armenian boxers on the second day of the tournament:
65 kg: Suren Katvalyan — Romans Iljins (Latvia) — TKO, Round 2, win for Katvalyan
70 kg: Samvel Aslanyan — Aaron Santurio (Spain) — 1:4
75 kg: Alen Stepanyan — Kirill Shinkar (Russia) — 0:5
Katvalyan thus secured Armenia’s second victory of the tournament. As a reminder, Samvel Siramargyan (80 kg) was successful on the first day of competition.
It is worth noting that Suren Katvalyan is currently the only Armenian athlete to have earned the right to compete at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.
The European U19 Boxing Championships are being held in Loznica from August 13 to 22, 2026.
