Alashkert striker Armen Hovhannisyan has been spotted at a training session of Moldovan side Petrocub. Although no official announcement has been made, the 25-year-old’s presence at the club’s training base fuels speculation about his possible return to the Moldovan championship.
Hovhannisyan previously played in Moldova for Zimbru, scoring three goals in eight matches. A potential transfer could strengthen Petrocub ahead of their upcoming European campaign — the Hîncești-based club will take part in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers, facing Maltese side Birkirkara in the first round.
The new season in the Moldovan Super Liga has already started. On June 22, Petrocub will play against Bălți.
Armen Hovhannisyan is a tall centre-forward (189 cm), who can also operate on the flanks. A product of Pyunik Yerevan, he has previously played for Armenian sides Ararat-Armenia, Gandzasar and Alashkert, Slovakian clubs Michalovce and Nitra, Greek team Episkopi, and Maltese clubs Hibernians, Pietà and Mosta.
According to Transfermarkt, the player's market value is €125,000. He has made 151 club appearances, scoring 35 goals and providing 7 assists. He also played 51 matches and scored 10 goals for Armenia’s youth national teams.
