After Armenia’s crushing 1:6 defeat against Georgia in the return leg of the Nations League play-off, the President of the Armenian Football Federation, Armen Melikbekyan, and team captain Varazdat Haroyan made a joint statement.
Armen Melikbekyan:
"On behalf of everyone, we apologize for this result. We had long discussions with the players and coaches after the match and are ready to overcome difficulties, accept the challenge, resolve internal issues, and present ourselves in a different state in June. In September, we will be a fighting team. This is a joint statement from the players, the coach, and the federation."
Varazdat Haroyan:
"As long as I am in the national team, I hope we will never suffer such shameful defeats again. Once again, I apologize. I had a long talk with the guys on the team. Yes, they are my friends, but I explained to them that we have no right to such defeats."
