UFC lightweight top contender Arman Tsarukyan (22–3) has stated his intention to fight the division’s No. 8-ranked fighter, Paddy Pimblett (23–3). In an interview with Red Corner MMA, Arman noted that he was impressed by the Briton's recent performance and considers the fight appealing both from a sporting and promotional standpoint:
“Paddy looked really good in his last fight. Now we know that he’s capable of beating top-10 opponents. He climbed to No. 8 himself, but he doesn’t seem to be planning to fight anytime soon. He said he wants to return at the end of the year, while I want to fight in the summer.
What if they offer me a summer fight against Paddy? I’ll accept it. He has a big name, he recently beat Michael Chandler, and he’s on a six- or seven-fight winning streak. He hasn’t lost in the UFC. It’s a good fight, and it’ll help me grow my fan base in the UK,” said Arman Tsarukyan.
Previously, Arman withdrew from the title fight against Islam Makhachev due to injury, thus stepping out of the championship race. Now, Tsarukyan is expected to have a title eliminator bout, the winner of which may get a second shot at the belt. Potential opponents include Pimblett and Justin Gaethje.
In the near future, Arman will participate in the ADXC 10 tournament, which will take place on May 31 in Moscow. There, he will compete in a grappling match against Patricky Pitbull.
