Armenian lightweight MMA fighter Arman Tsarukyan (22-3) has entered the UFC pound-for-pound (P4P) rankings for the first time in his career, securing the 15th spot right behind Charles Oliveira.
This is a historic day for Armenian MMA: for the first time, an Armenian male fighter has made it into the list of the world’s best fighters regardless of weight class. Previously, only Katlyn Chookagian had reached the P4P rankings, holding the 8th spot among female fighters.
There were no changes at the top of the updated UFC P4P rankings. Islam Makhachev remains the leader, followed by Jon Jones and Ilia Topuria. However, Arman Tsarukyan, who recently became the number one contender in the lightweight division, has now gained recognition among the best fighters in the organization.
It’s worth noting that in his last fight, Arman Tsarukyan defeated Charles Oliveira, climbed to the top of the lightweight rankings, and earned a title shot against Islam Makhachev. However, due to a back injury, he was unable to compete for the championship. He remains a top contender but will likely have to go through another title eliminator fight before his shot at the belt.
