Top-ranked UFC lightweight Arman Tsarukyan (22-3) scored a victory in a grappling match against PFL fighter and Islam Makhachev’s teammate Makasharip Zainukov (16-3).
The bout took place on May 2 in Dubai as part of the Karate Combat 54 event. The fight went the full two rounds and ended with a unanimous decision in favor of Tsarukyan.
The match was cautious, with most of the action taking place on the feet. However, Arman controlled the tempo, executed several takedowns, and maintained an attacking position, which ultimately secured the win.
After the fight, Tsarukyan thanked his supporters and said he might return to compete again at Karate Combat. It’s worth noting that UFC fighters are allowed to take part in grappling events outside the promotion.
