Matchday 24 of the Armenian Premier League featured two crucial games involving teams still fighting for the championship title. The results fully favored the current leaders, Ararat-Armenia, who increased their advantage over their closest rivals to six points.
The central event of the round was Ararat-Armenia’s 2-0 victory over Urartu. Alioune Ndour scored both goals for the league leaders. At 0-1, Urartu had good chances to get back into the game, but Bruno Pinto came to his team’s rescue twice and preserved the visitors’ lead.
In another important match of the round, Noah and Pyunik played out a 0-0 draw. The first half was evenly contested, with each team creating one dangerous opportunity. After the break, the initiative shifted completely to Noah. The team created several serious chances, including Hamoyan’s disallowed goal, as well as dangerous shots from Ayash and Sentyini, after which Henry Avagyan produced impressive saves.
As a result, Ararat-Armenia gained an important advantage in the title race. The team still has two key matches ahead — against Pyunik and Noah. These games could largely determine the fate of the championship title.
