Ararat-Armenia Secure European Football in the Autumn and Nearly €4 Million from UEFA

FC Ararat-Armenia continue their successful campaign in the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds. The Armenian club have progressed through two qualifying rounds and reached the third qualifying round of Europe’s premier club competition.

This achievement is significant not only from a sporting perspective but also financially. Ararat-Armenia have already secured a place in at least the UEFA Conference League league phase, while the club’s minimum estimated UEFA revenue stands at approximately €3.98 million.

Why Ararat-Armenia Have Already Secured a European League-Phase Place

The team are competing in the Champions Path. Under UEFA regulations, if the club lose in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, they will transfer to the Europa League play-off round.

If they also lose at that stage, they will automatically enter the Conference League league phase. Therefore, even if Ararat-Armenia lose their next two ties, they will continue their European campaign in the autumn.

The Minimum Amount Ararat-Armenia Will Earn

Under the most conservative scenario, the Armenian club will take part in four qualifying rounds:

• Champions League first qualifying round;
• Champions League second qualifying round;
• Champions League third qualifying round;
• Europa League play-off round.

UEFA provides a payment of €175,000 for every qualifying round played. If the club lose in the Europa League play-off round, they retain the right to receive payments for all four rounds.

The total qualifying payments would therefore amount to:

4 × €175,000 = €700,000.

The club would also receive a base payment of €3.17 million for participating in the Conference League league phase.

This amount would be supplemented by minimum payments from other UEFA financial components:

• at least €86,000 from the so-called value pillar;
• a minimum of €28,000 as a bonus based on the club’s final position in the league-phase table.

The minimum estimated total is therefore:

€700,000 + €3.17 million + €86,000 + €28,000 = €3.984 million.

This means that by reaching the third qualifying round of the Champions League, Ararat-Armenia have effectively secured UEFA revenue of almost €4 million from a sporting perspective.

How Much the Club Can Earn from Wins and Draws

The estimated figure of approximately €3.98 million does not include potential performance bonuses earned during the league phase.

If Ararat-Armenia compete in the Conference League, UEFA will pay:

• €400,000 for each victory;
• €133,000 for each draw.

For example, two wins and one draw would earn the club an additional €933,000. Further payments are also available for finishing high in the league-phase table and qualifying for the knockout rounds.

If the club reach the Europa League league phase, the performance bonuses will be higher:

• €450,000 for a victory;
• €150,000 for a draw.

In the Champions League league phase, a victory is worth €2.1 million, while a draw earns €700,000.

Potential Revenue Could Exceed €20 Million

Every additional victory in qualifying will significantly increase Ararat-Armenia’s future revenue.

If the club reach the Europa League league phase, their minimum estimated income could exceed €5.2 million. If the team advance to the Champions League play-off round but lose there and transfer to the Europa League, their total payments could reach approximately €9 million.

Winning the third qualifying round and reaching the Champions League playoffs would more than double Ararat-Armenia's minimum income.

The reason for this jump:

€4.29 million is the special payment to the club that loses in the Champions League playoffs;
€4.31 million is the base payment for participating in the Europa League stage;

Additionally, payments from the value pillar and a minimum of €75,000 for finishing in the Europa League table.
The total, excluding wins and draws, is:

€4.29 million + €4.31 million = €8.6 million, and with minimal additional distributions, the amount approaches €9 million.

Qualifying directly for the Champions League league phase could earn the club at least €20 million, including the participation payment, minimum ranking bonuses and the value pillar. The base payment for every club participating in the Champions League league phase is €18.62 million.

An Important Financial Achievement for Armenian Football

The current European campaign has already become one of the most important in Ararat-Armenia’s history. In addition to direct UEFA payments, participation in the league phase will generate revenue from ticket sales, advertising, sponsorship agreements, television rights and matchday infrastructure.

However, UEFA’s financial figures for the 2026/27 season remain provisional. European football’s governing body has emphasised that the final payments will depend on the commercial revenue actually generated and will be subject to final confirmation.

Therefore, what is guaranteed is Ararat-Armenia’s participation in at least the Conference League league phase, while the €3.98 million figure is an estimate based on the current provisional distribution model.
